Each month Carol's Pub selects a local organization that gives to the community. For every Jell-O Shot sold we donate $1.00 to that organization. Thank you for helping us give back!
Brennemann Elementary is a pre-k through 8th grade Chicago Public School (CPS) in the Buena Park neighborhood of Uptown. The student body is diverse with 27 languages spoken. Brennemann has some unique challenges, the biggest of which is that 90% of the students qualify for free or subsidized lunch. In many neighborhood schools, parents come together to raise money and make up for the funding gap between what CPS provides and what the school really needs. But at Brennemann, our parents typically don’t have the extra time or money for this. Which is why Friends of Brennemann (FOB) is a 501C-3 formed in 2022 to support this neighborhood school. At FOB we have stepped up to support the school because where the parents don’t have the bandwidth the community does.
FOB's priority fundraising initiative this year is after-school programming. When we heard that Brennemann's after-school programming budget was cut drastically, we knew the negative effects would be immediate! Programs outside the school day provide students with everything from homework help to all types of arts and sports experiences, not to say the importance of families knowing that their students are safe and having fun! We know these programs support student learning and emotional growth. We are making a big push this year for that.
